ASTONISHING FEAT.

VITAL INDUSTRIES MOVED

TO INTERIOR OF CHINA

(Times Cables.) Received April 17. 11.35 a.m. LONDON, April 16. The Times Chungking correspondent Rays that the Chinese Government has. in an astonishing manner, succeeded in removing vital industries to the interior. A total of 330 cotton mills, electric plants, and iron and steel works, aggregating 130,000 tons of equipment, have been taken to new sites, chiefly at Szechwan.

A cotton mill of 50.000 spindles has been transported 1000 miles bv road, railw.ay and steamer junks through the T angtse gorges, despite air attacks, and dumped on a barren liil’side where 'OOO coolies are levelling the site. In the meantime 2500 spindles are operating in temporary sheds.

The Chinese have occupied Tsengehen, Tungshu and Eushan.
