INFLUENZA OUTBREAK.
PREVALENCE IN CITY. “Judging by tlie number of prescriptions to he made up, there is a considerable amount of influenza prevalent in the city in various forms,” commented a leading chemist to a “Standard” reporter when questioned today regard the subject. “Although they do not amount to anything like pneumouuim influenza, the attacks nevertheless are of a somewhat severe nature, prostrating those attacked for quite a while.” The Hospital authorities stated that there had been a few admissions of persons suffering from the sickness, while in the children’s ward one or two patients had caught influenza, but were lieing kept separate from the other children.
Owing to the prevalence of the sickness in the Waipukurau district, the medical superintendent of the Pukeora Sanatorium has decided that the institution wil he closed to all visitors until further notice. Nothing of this nature has yet been carried into effect at the sanatorium controlled by the Palmerston North Hospital Board.
