AWAHURI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AAA'AIIURI. April 17.
On Saturday evening about twenty enthusiasts gathered at the Awahuri Hall to form a ping pong club. Several apologies for absence were received. Mr .T. Christian was elected president and Mrs A. H. Goodman secretary and treasurer. _ The following were elected to the committee, with power to add: Mrs Christian. Messrs B. Nicholson, A. and K. Matthews, A. IT. Goodman and D. Crawford. It was decided to meet every Saturday night. The committee hope to start some competitions very shortly. The evening was 6pent in some friendly games; supper was served by the ladies present. Messrs .T. Montgomerie (Masterton) and R. Clements (Wanganui) spent the Easter vacation with tbc former's parents. Mr and Mrs Eric Bennett,, of Lover Hutt, were the guests of Mrs and Miss Bennett. Miss Nornh O’Farrel! spent the holidays in Palmerston North as the guest of Miss Carr. Miss Phvliss Bond, of Nelson, is spending a holiday in the district visiting many friends. Mrs Hickford has returned after spending several weeks in Tauranga. Mr G. Hickford (Tauranga) and Mr L. Hickford (Matanmta) have been spending a few clays with their brothers. Mr and Mrs M. O'Farrell (Plimmcrton) spent Easter with the former's parents, Mr and Mrs F. O'Farrell. Mr and Mrs Speeclilev and Mr and Mrs Mayes, former residents of the district, spent- the week-end in Palmerston North, making calls on several old friends. Tliev returned to the Waikato yesterday aflornoon.
