INTER-SCHOOL TENNIS.
RAIN PREVENTS PLAY. Tlie first wet day experienced in Wanganui for a long time completely prevented play on Saturday when senior and junior tennis teams from the Palmerston North Girls’ High School visited the Wanganui Girls’ College. As further inter-school tennis matches will probably not take place place until the third term, this was very disappointing to the girls, and several farmers’ daughters who expressed satisfaction at the break in the drought were considered to he rather tactless. Nevertheless, the visitors were quite happily entertained with games and dancing, and afternoon tea was enjoyed. The Girls’ High School teams were;
Seniors.—Tui Sexton, Aileen Nash. Patricia Porter, Margaret Henderson, Margaret Beattie, and Rachel Long. Juniors: Mary Cook, Hilda Christiansen, Beryl Kay, Beverley West, June Davies, and Betty Stewart.
Miss Gaipin was in charge of the party, and the teams were conveyed to Wanganui by ear by Mesdames Cook, Long and West, and Miss Galpin.
