ROUGH RIDING.
HORSES SUFFER. SYDNEY, April 16. The Randwiek meeting just, concluded was marked by some of the roughest riding tactics in the history of local racing. This is i lie verdict of several ci ties. Apart from wlia.t happened to Defaulter, other good horses received severe cuts and abrasions, several nearly on the noses. Linmlet was badly scarred. Cardinal Puff suffered a broken hind fetlock but may he saved for the stud. Undue crowding at I he. barrier spoiled the prospects of heavily-backed candidates. Evan Ajax had a narrow escape and limped to ihe weighing enclosure, one shoe hanging by one nail and a severe cut on the other foot. The jockeys, W. Cook and A. Podmore, were suspended for two months fare careless ridihg.
