OLD MAORI WORKSHOP.
DISCOVERY NEAR TE AROHA. Per Press Association. TE AROHA, March 29. There has been discovered at iiuakaka, on Te Aroha mountainside, by Mr Charles Jennings, a local resident, a Maori workshop of an early period, probably over 100 years ago. The contents include 60 stone adzes, both in the rough and finished state, also hammers, chisels, axes and weapons of war. The locrtfity was occupied Te Aroha was formed by the Hapu Ngatimaru tribe, and the tools show a high grade or Maori craftsmanship. The workshop is cut out of the mountain hillside rock and is of fairly large dimensions.
