EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” MARCH 29, 1909. Mr L. Holden, Into of Makino and then of To Aroha, laid given two fallow deer to the Fcilding Jockey Club for liberation on its grounds. Harvest festival services were planned for the Methodist Churches in Pal mors ton North, the preachers being Rev. H. Beggs and Rev. J. J. Lewis. Owing to slackness in building, the supply of bricks in Wellington was greater than the demand. The price had fallen from 52s 6d to'4os a thousand within a year. Lieutenant Shackleton had not decided whether he would organise a further expedition to reach the South Pole.
