EX-KING’S MESSAGE.
PLEASED AT SURRENDER. “SIGNIFIES PEACE.” Received March 29, 10 a.m. HOME, March 28. A statement from the household of ex-King Alfonso states that His Majesty is pleased with the surrender of Madrid, as it signifies that peace soon will be restored in Spain. He hopes that the surrender will eliminate all resistance to General Franco, thus sparing the people further bloodshed and suffering.
