LARGE DEFENCE VOTE.
tj.s.a. appropriation. TOTAL OF 513,188,172 DOLLARS. WASHINGTON, March 27. Without a dissenting vote the Senate to-day passed the War Department’s largest peacetime appropriation. A further 13,000,000 dollars was added, making the total 513,188,172 dolLewis warned the United States that it was about to “make the blunder of taking sides in foreign conflicts.” Senator King predicted that Herr Plitler and Signor Mussolini would crack up. All the democracies need to do, he said, was to await the happy day. President Roosevelt laid before the House the supplementary naval estimates asking for a further 19,000,000 dollars.
