LABOUR PARTY.
The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Labour Representative Committee was held at Dannevirke, recently. Air B. Rossiter (chairman) presided over a full attendance of delegates. The secretary (Air AV. H. Oliver) read the annual balance-sheet, which was adopted, subject to audit. The matter of a candidate, or the selection of one, was dealt with and steps are being taken to complete this, in conformity with the constitution. Many matters in connection with the welfare of the movement were discussed and far-reaching decisions arrived at. The matter of the payment of young teachers and the employment of married women in schools whose husbands are capable of supporting them, was also discussed anil a resolution wars moved, to be forwarded to the ‘ Afblister concerned. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: Chairman, Air B. J. Rossiter; vicechairman, Air G. Ansel!; secretary, Air .1. G. Phelan; treasurer, Air A. Lacey. The suggested alteration of the meeting place and an increase in the number of delegates was not approver!. In thanking delegates for his reelection, the chairman stressed the necessity of all members working together for the benefit of the movement and the protection of their homes and dependants. Other elected officers also returned thanks for their appointment.
