SMALL TURNOVER.

WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE There was little change in the Wellington stock and share market yesterday, business being quiet, with a small turnover. Prices showed no improvement, and in several sections the trend was slightly weaker. Government loans had a fair inquiry' at steady rates. Some holders were prepared to sell, but no dealings were reported. There were buyers in for Wellington City and Auckland | City debentures. Bank shares were weak on a slack demand. Now Zealand were quitted at 38s to 38s 6d, buyers staying in at 3Ss. Commercial of Australia were steady at 16s, but Commercial of Sydney were 10s down at CIO 15s. E.S. and A. were easy at £5 and National of Australasia were wanted at £l3 ss. sellers asking 10s higher. Pastoral and financial issues attracted little or no attention. Goldsbrnugb Mort were on offer at 29s 6d, and N.Z. Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock was available at £27 10s. Gas shares were unwanted, and there were no quotations of insurance shares. Buyers showed little interest in any New Zealand -industrial issues. N.Z. Breweries were done at 38s, buyers staying in at 37s lOd. Carlton wore firm at R7s, and Tooths were wanted at 555. Reid Rubber (N.Z.) had inquiry at 245. and Wilsons Cement at 1.5 s 6d. Leading Australian issues wore fairly well supported at about late rates. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
