RUGBY TOURS.
INVITATION TO FIJIANS. Per Press Association WELLINGTON, March 25. A decision to invite the Fijian Rugby Union to send a team to New Zealand this year was made, at a meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Football Council. The team is to leave Suva on August 29 and leave Auckland on tho return to Fiji on October 3. With regard to the proposed tour by a university team from the English counties, the chairman (Mr S. S. Dean) reported that a difficulty appeared to be the question of leave. To bring a team out by air would cost £3OllO. All the council could do, Mr Dean added, was to await further information. A suggestion was made by a member that the avenue provided by universities in America might be explored. It was decided the North versus South match and a trial be played in Wellington on September 23, and that other trial matches bo played in Wellington the following Wednesday and Saturday for tho selection of the team to visit South Africa.
