CRICKET.
R. CARTER BOWLS WELL. The final matches in the Feilding Cricket Association’s 19J9 competitions opened at Kowhni Park on Saturday afternoon, when Feilding were engaged with Nomads and Public Service with Old Boys. The competitions involve the Guthrie Shield for the club scoring highest points for the season, and the Bartholomew Cup open to both grades for the highest average of runs per wicket. Prior to Saturday’s play the positions of the teams were: Feilding and Nomads, equal, 9 points; Public Service, S; Old Boy 6 5. FEILDING v. NOMADS. Nomads batted first, but produced a very poor score, A. Wald in lteing the only bat to make a double figure knock. Carter established the good average of eight wickets for 10 runs. Feilding replied with a score of 80, the Waldin brothers capturing the majority of the wickets. In failing light Nomads commenced their second strike and had. made 23 for the loss of 1 wicket at the close of play. Details:
