KOSY THEATRE. “KING OF TIIK NE\VSJ>OYS.” How an ambitious youth rifles above }iis environment in the slums of New York to eventually control the distribution of till newspapers is the basis of Republic’s powerful drama, “King of the Newsboys,” which is now allowing at the Rosy Theatre. In the teeming tenements of this great city, playground of a million hoodlums, schoolroom of growing gangsters and gunmen, is told the heart-stirring story of Jerry (Lew Ayres) the care-free boy who is spurred to success by the love of Mary Ellen (Helen j Mack). After a rather nondescript existence, | including street lights and run-ins with 1 police, Jerry settles down to the serious task of earning an honest livelihood as a paper boy. His sales become so enormous that he hires otner boys to work under him. A successful newspaper distributing agency eventually materialises and Jerry finds himself growing wealthy and influential.
