WANGANUI TROTS.

IMPRESSIVE TRACK WORK. (By “Abaydos.”) WANGANUI, March 23. The course proper was in splendid order to-day after being watered, and with the hurdles out 30ft some fine sprints were registered by a number of horses engaged at tho trotting meeting on Saturday. Tlio honours were with Transwell, who ran the final half-mile of a solid mile and a half in 1.5. Charlie Chan (who took 1.6) also displayed line speed, and another at tractive effort was that of tho trotter, Reception, who took 1.7. Smart sprints were credited to Purina (unhoppled) and Loyalette, 1.7; Ilillcrest and Neriliana, 1.8; Excel and Dewey Bell and Rona Girl, 1.8 25; and Myrtle Oro and Loch Loven, 1.8 4-5. Tho presence of the southern horses, Puma, Envious, Farida. Guy Whispers. Red Cap, Ace High, Grand Blaze and Druin-c-all, gave added interest, alt hough, excepting ’Purua, their tasks were not exacting.

Among the trotters, Great Guy, Lceleeta, Money Queen, Frontier Boy, All Bingen. Nativo Worry and Count Parrish did best. Fourteen fresh horses will make a groat difference to the fields. Ten are from Christchurch, representing the well known and successful stables of C. Donald. M. B. Edwards and C. Yoatman. who intend raring their charges at Now Plymouth, ITawera and Palmerston North. Two other pacers, Santa Fc and Fisher, hail from Auckland: tho other two Savatina and Nativo Worry are in Leo Berkott’s squad. Many of the newcomers arc in winning strain and will severely test tho best of last Saturday’s performers, and the. clashes will puzzle backers, who may incline to the form they have already seen.
