VICTIM OF ATTACK
INCIDENT AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 21. A young married woman was tho victim of a savage asault by a man in her kitchen early this afternoon in Church Street, I’onsonby. Slie _ told the police that the mail went uninvited into her kitchen, and while she was ex nining a cake in the oven he struck her over the bead with a bottle and then gripped her by tlie throat until she became unconscious. AY lien she recovered she staggered around the house and collapsed over a gate. Her dishevelled state attracted the attention of a passer-by, who summoned the police and a doctor. The woman herself was still too dazed tonight, to be interviewed. A woman passer-by told a constable that the woman's head was covered in blood when she first saw her and that her clothing and some scratches and some finger-marks on her neck indicated she had been attacked, although not seriously hurt, about the head. The woman who had been the victim of the assault is suffciin - a good deal from shock. It is understood that a suspect was subsequently arrested.
