BEACONSFIELD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BEACONSKIELD, March 21. There was a very good attendance at the annual meeting oi the Beaconsliold Golf Club which was held on Alonday ovening in tiic school. Tho balance-sheet was read and adopted and the president’s report read inter alia as follows: —About a month alter play commenced Air Corpo kindly offered a ten years’ lease of his property free of rent, if the club wished to change from the site that it then occupied. After very careful consideration by the committee and members it was decided to accept Air Corpe’s very generous oiler. The change over entailed a great deal of work and a.ssistanee was received front the Unemployment Board lor laying down and fencing tho greens. Working bees were arranged and the links were very soon ready for use. Play commenced on the new links on July 2 and a successful season continued until October 29, when the closing day competitions were held, immediately after closing a well attended working bee was held and several tons of silt and sand were carted and spread on the greens. New lawn grasses were also sown. The greens have recently been cut and topdressed and are now m good order lor play. The club-house lias been added to and will be found to be much more convenient lor players. The following are thanked lor valuable assistance:— Mr Crope, lor giving a ten years’ lease rent free, lending his tractor and lorry lor the removal of tile golf-house and eating sand, also lor the donation of j all the timber used lor making styles and the pavilion; Airs Stewart and Alls Withers, lor serving alternoon tea to visiting players: Airs D. Old, lor donations ol milk throughout the season ; Air D. Old, lor a right-of-way through his property to the old links; Alls England and Messrs N. Short and J. Old, for the donation of trophies; the lviwitea County Council, fur metalling a parking area; Air J. Stewart (secretary), lor tile vast amount of work and great interest ho lias taken iu the club; finally, to tho committee lor its co-operation and assistance iu all matters. The election of officers was as follows:—Patron, Air J. Curpe; president, Mr J. Old; vice-presidents, Air J. A. Withers and Air T. Wilson; secretary, Mr Al. McLean; treasurer, Mr E. Buclutnan ; club captain, Air Cl. Coggin; vice-captain, Mr J. Stewart; auditor, Air C. Al. Richardson; committee, Messrs N. Short, J. Strickland, 1). Olti, E. Ackerman : green committee, Messrs J. Old, AL Alcß-aii, N. Short. G. Coggin, and E. Buchanan. A hearty vote of thanks by acclamation was given to Air Corpo for services rendered. It was unanimously decided to make Mr and Mrs . Stewart honorary life members of the club in return for services rendered. TENNIS NOTES. Beaconsfield were matched against Cheltenham last Saturday in a return match for the Guy Cup. '1 he A team boat Cheltenham by 9 games to 7. Cheltenham B defaulted owing to a shortage of [flayers. Next Saturday the home team plays Haleonibe in a return match and the final game of the second round. The A team will play at Haleonibe while the 13 team j will use the home court. A list of j players will be published later.
