SHOPLIFTER SENTENCED.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. March 21. A married woman who had previously bean convicted on throe occasions for theft and who had cominitteed three shoplifting offences while still on probation was sent to prison by Mr G. R. Orr AValker, S.M., in the. Police Court to-day. She was Nellie Josephine Magiil, aged 34, and she pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing on March 17 a variety of .articles. The Magistrate said Magill had been admitted to probation for two years (last August, when she was convicted on four charges of theft. Evidently this jliacl not succeeded in keeping her away .from temptation. “And now she is in trouble again,” said tho Magistrate. “She is flouting the law and the conditions of her probation, so I do not propose to pass this over. Her children can he looked after and on that condition I am going to impose a short term of imprisonment. I Magill was sentenced to two weeks | in prison.
