MANAAVATU BRANCH. In the absence of Mrs H. Paterson, of Pahiatua (president), Airs A. E. Mansford was elected to the chair at the monthly meeting of the National Council of AVomen, held at the Y.AV.C.A. rooms yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mesdames AY. G. Short (Cheltenham), D. Colquhoun, S. AlcDowall, K. Ross (Feilding), T. Green (Stanway), S. Lodge (Kiwitea), Bridcn-Joncs, AA T . A. Boniface. Alisses M. Alatheson, Grant, and C. Jamieson, of Palmerston North (acting-secre-tary). There were apologies for absence from Alesdames Paterson. A. | McCorkindale, AV. F. Field, J. Harris, , and Miss I. Aladden. Aliss C. AtcKenny, A1.8.E., wrote in appreciation of congratulations received from the branch on the honour recently bestowed upon her. The,writer considered the honour a gracious ges- ! tore to the National Association of Nursing, one person receiving what had been earned by a great number of nurses working together. A welcome was extended to Aliss M Jones, the new secretary of the Palmerston North Y.AV.C.A. The question of appointing a secretary was diseuss- ' ed, Aliss Jones intimating that ns a newcomer she would not be prepared to undertake the duties in the meantime. It was decided that the president endeavour to secure the services of a secretary and that a small honorarium be granted, Aliss C. Jamieson generously undertaking to fulfil the duties for another month.
