When a handkerchief in the pocket of a coat belonging to Mr Matson, of Donnington Street, commenced to smoulder, early last evening, the room in which tbe garment was hanging was filled with smoke. An alarm of fire was given and the Fire Brigade summoned. When the brigadesmen arrived on the scene some time elapsed before they were able to find the source of the fire.
