“Matter” was the subject of the Lesson-sermon in all Churches ot Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The Golden Text was Exodus 20: 7, ‘Thou shalt not take the name ol the Lord thy God in vain; lor the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.”
Among the citations which comprised tite Lesson-feermon was the l’ol lowing from the Bible: “Thus shall ye say unto them, The Gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and Irom under these heavens.” (Jer. 10:11). Also the following passages from the Christian M'ience textbook. “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.” by Mary Baker Fddy: “Wlmt is termed matter, being unintelligent, cannot say, ‘1 suffer, 1 die, 1 am sick, or I am well.’ It is the socalled mortal mind which voices this and appears to itself to make good its claim. To mortal sense sin and suffering are real, but immortal sense includes no evil nor pestilence.” (p. 210).
