AN AMBITION REALISED.

A LOiso cherished hope was brought to fruition on Saturday when the opening took place of the rest home for women established by the Women’s Division of the Danners’ Union. This is the culmination of much patient and earnest endeavour, and it is to be hoped that the ceremony will draw wider attention to an organisation that for some years has been doing a vast amount of good work among country women without ostentation or looking for praise. Since its formation the Division has been consistently active. Apart from the social side of its gatherings—always a commendable feature —it has given valuable help to rural women by providing a housekeeper service, visiting the sick and helping to care for their families, and augmenting supplies of literature for women in the backblocks, to mention but a few of the good deeds performed. Now, recognising the need for premises where rural women in need of rest and recuperation may find accommodation the Division has set its hand to the task of providing this, and it can be truly said that no better recognition of the Division’s tine record of service can be offered than the action of the Flock House Trustees in handing over the Girls’ Flock House property to this organisation. In the past Division members have assisted Flock House trainees by maintaining in them a motherly interest, and so it is again fitting that the premises now opened as a rest home should be the former location of a training establishment. The rest home movement, it is hoped by the Division, will be encouraged so that other establishments will be made, available for women requiring such benefit, and it can be taken for granted that such encouragement will not be lacking on the part of those who appreciate the fine work the Division is doing.
