BEAUPARTTR AN UNLIKELY STARTER. Beaupartir is the only three-year-old engaged in the Wanganui Cup, and he would havo to go near to breaking a record to win under his handicap of 8.10, but lie is just tho horse to do it, for ho has been galloping in great stylo at Awapuni and obviously is very fit.. Tho weight-carrying record for a three-year-old in the event is the 8.11 carried by Nonetlc 37 years ago, so that Beaupartir has a stiff task in front of him. However, he is reported to bo an unlikely starter, but will race at New Plymouth and in the St. Legcr at Trcntham. Tho Wanganui Cup has a history dating back to 1875, with a break in the sequenco between 1930 and 1935, and it is of interest to record that no loss than ten three-vea.r-olds have won (lie race. Two of thorn, Betrayer (1880) and Sir George (1881), succeeded when the distance was 2J miles, and tho other eight, Dndu (1888), St. Katharine (1893), Advance (1900), Nobility (1901), Nonette (1902), Boomerang (1906), Milan (1910), and Bronze (1912), when the distance was 12 miles.
