PERSONAL.
The death is reported from Ashburton of Mr William Thomas Lill, aged 92, a resident of the county since December 16, 1867. He was an exchairman of the County Council and the Hospital Board. He was one of only two lay presidents of the New Zealand Methodist Conference aud had never missed a quarterly meeting of the circuit for fifty years. The death lias occurred at Invercargill of Mr Andrew Bain, in his 83rd year. He had lieen for two terms Mavor and a councillor for twenty years. He was a well-known building contractor in his earlier life, later devoted forty years’ service to Soutnland local bodies. —Press Association.
