GAOL SENTENCES.
Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Feb. 20.
Sentence of four months’ imprisonment was imposed on each ot four Maoris who appeared before J ufrtiees of the Peace a-t Hicks Bay on charges of assaulting two women. Accused were Paparangihati Houkaurnau, aged 24; Hera Houkaurnau, aged 22; He Wiri McClatchie, aged 21, and Heta iidwards, n.ged 20. Detective McAVhirter stated that accused had gone to the house of a Maori woman aged 80 and assaulted her, and also a young woman of eighteen.
