MARTON, Fob. 18. In the 'Wanganui C grade championship elimination lawn tennis match between the St. Andrew’s (Marton) and llata Clubs tlio former emerged the winners by 11 sets and 122 games to 5 sets and* lib games. At a meeting ol’ the liaugitikei branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society it was reported that 4UOU fingerlings were to be released in the Porewa Stream at Hunterville, and KXMJ in the Marton lakes. It was resolved to recommend that the secretary be instructed to accompany the rangers during the fry and lingerling liberation periods, and that he furnish a report upon the work. It was further resolved that the rangers be in-" structed to notify the secretary of the intention to liberate fry, so that arrangements might be made with councillors available to assist. Mrs C. A. Tidy was in the chair at a meting of the Marton branch of the Plunket Society, when a resolution ol' condolence with the family of the late Mrs Milne was carried. Mrs Milne had been a faithful supporter for many years, and appreciation was expressed of her constant interest, also that of her daughters, Mesdames G. Galpin and J. If rice. The ram fair lunch brought in a net profit of £8 lbs 4d, it was reported. Miss Richmond will he away for four weeks’ holiday from I'ebruary 27, and Miss Gorrie, formerly Plunket Nurse in Marton, is to take her place for tliat period. Mrs If. Marshall was elected to the committee. Miss Richmond sent in a very satisfactory report. There were 15 new baby cases in the district during the month.
