“STUNT” MEN AT GALA DAY
EXPERTS IN HORSEMANSHIP
The Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association has brought to the city two “stunt.” men who will give special displays. They arc an American, “Daredevil” Frank MeFarlatie, and an Australian. Fred Yeomans, whose oquipment includes speciallytrained horses. Well-known in the United States and Canaria, where ho hag competed and given displays of horsemanship and feats of daring at many rodeos and fairs, McFarlano recently visited Melbourne, where he thrilled large crowds with his performances. He has three horses with him, and these play a prominent part in his acts.
Riding in Roman fashion, standing on the backs of two horses, McFarlano will jump over & parked motor-car, in the course of his display. He will also jump the horses in similar fashion over a flaming hurdle, this being performed with tho horses bare-backed. In addition, with his horse Tarzan, he will perform the “cowboy’s last ride,” an act in which the horso displays remarkable intelligence in saving his master, who has been wounded and is unable to ride home.
Champion rough-rider of Australia, Yeomans is also a stockwhip expert, and will give displays in which he will flick corks from bottles with his whip, gently take a cigarette from an assistant’s mouth, and perform evolutions with a 60ft whip. He is known throughout Australia as one of tho few men capable of handling the once-popu-lar long whips, Tho displays hy the wo men will conclude wjh a spectacular race between them." Each will bo mounted Roman fashion on two horses, ■ and they will race over half a mile.
