COMING-OF-AGE PARTY.
Miss Maud Mountfort,. eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Mountfort, of Masterton Road, was honoured at a large gathering which took place in the Ngawapurua Hall on Saturday evening, the occasion being her com-ing-of-age. Becomingly dressed in a graceful gown of white net trimmed with silver, and wearing a dainty silver bow in her hair, the guest of honour acknowledged the individual good wishes of her many friends and was the recipient of a large number of beautiful presents which they brought. Dance music was played bv Mr H. Brooker, and the proceedings were controlled by Mr W. D. Beagley as M.C. Competitive games were also played and for those needing musical accompaniment Mrs L. Williams obliged. A balloon game was won by Mr P. Teague and a stick game by Miss P. Waugh. Novelty dances included spot fox-trot in which the lucky couple were Mr N. Kopkc and Miss M. Knapp, and a lucky Gay Gordons in which the winners were Mr P. Davies and Miss M. Knapp. After supper had been served. Miss Mountfort lit and extinguished again the 21 candles on her large birthday cake, which she then cut. She briefly thanked her friends for coming, and for their gifts, and also her parents for arranging the party. Musical honours were then accorded her. Mr R. R. Johnston, who for many years was a neighbour of the Mountfort family, expressed the goodwill of the gathering to "Miss Mountfort, and hoped that her future would always he a happy one. He also mentioned the good qualities of Mr and Mrs Mountfort. In returning thanks to Mr Johnston for his remarks, Mr J. Mountfort said that the evening had been a successful and enjoyable affair, as was deserved by one who had been a model daughter.
