EFFECT ON FREIGHTS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. ‘‘Of all the lines my company has, New Zealand is actually the most expensive,” said Captain Mathy, the Australian representative of Nord deutscher-Lloyd, when he arrived today, “and that is because of the high cost of loading and discharging cargo.” Ho had been in Sydney for five years, and goes to Germany at the end of the year on furlough. He said the shipping companies had been hoping the position regarding New Zealand costs would improve, but it was getting Worse and worse, and would lead to an increase in freights to and from New Zealand.
