WEST END SCHOOL

ANNUAL PICNIC. The annual picnic ,of tho AA est End School was held yesterday at tho Esplanade. There was an excellent attendance, and the day was spent in sports, games and other diversions. The children were well catered for. The sports programme was in the hands ot the headmaster (Mr 11. AY. Jackson) and staff, with Mr K. 13. Dawkins as organiser. The officials were: Starters, Miss M. R. Bird and Mr A. J. Rawstorne; judges, Miss L. M. Lyall and Messrs S. 0. Rosser and K. B. Dawkins; recorders, Miss L. Maters and Mr B. Turnbull; primer stewards, Misses R. C. Dakly, M. McMahon and E. J. Niedcrer; prizes, Mr H. W. Jackson.

Ice-creams, drinks, etc., were served hv Mesdanies G. Tremaine and I. Sievcrt, of tho ladies’ committee.

Tho school championship will bo announced next wee., oil the completion of tho boys’ high and long jumps. Results of tho races are as follow:
