CHINESE SUCCESS
IN INNER MONGOLIA. STEADY ADVANCE MADE. CONTINUAL RESISTANCE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received February 18, 12.5 p.m. CHUNGKING, Eeb. 17. The new Governor of Chahar (General Shih Yusan) reports that troops have broken the Japanese lines and are entering Inner Mongolia. When he was appointed Governor, General Shih was 200 miles from the Chahar border. He was ordered to end the Japanese occupation. General Shih has since crossed the Tientsin-Pukow railway and Yellow River and marched across Hopei Province, meeting with continual resistance.
