(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Feb. 17. A meeting of the committee of the local Tennis Club was hold recently. Mr C. 11. S. Osborne was in the chair, and also present were Messrs J. It. Osborne (secretary), D. Kearney, S. F. Morris, E. Osborne and Miss M. Mawhinnoy. An apology was received from Mrs J. R. Osborne. Arrangements for a gala day to bo held at the home of Mr and Mrs W. 11. Watson were fully discussed. Lunch and afternoon tea will be served and various attractions, apart from tenuis, will add to the pleasure. An R.B.A. committee meeting recently called, lapsed for want of a quorum. Mrs Whctton, of Dannevirke, is visiting her mother, Mrs Martin, and her brother, Mr W. Martin, at Table Flat. Miss laislie and Miss R. Purnell are spending a holiday at Olaki. Miss R. Eliot presided over a medium attendance of the Table Flat Women’s Institute; yesterday afternoon. The mooting discussed the Apiti Young Farmers’ Show and plans to be made in connection with the catering. Competitions arranged for next month are as follow: —Asters (if ready), champion bloom, 3 blooms, collection of six. and decorative bowl; embroidered tray cloth; plain scones; collection of dahlias, and champion dahlia. Following the conclusion of the business, Mrs E. Miller gave a golden thread talk on the “Death of Nelson.” Points competition results for the month were: Garden circle bloom. Miss Hogan 1, Mesdames Hogan and Kilgour, equal, 2, Miss Eliot 3; collar arid cuff set, Miss Hogan 1. Mrs 11. Jensen and Miss Pettigrew, equal, 2, Mrs 11. Jenson and Miss R. Tho funeral of Mrs E. Bningar _ took place yesterday afternoon at the Kelvin Grove Cemetery. Palmerston North. The pall-bearers at the graveside were Messrs W. J. Osborne, W. McKenzie, A. E. Prujean, S. 11. White, N. K. Gould, and E. Signal. Much sympathy is extended to Mr Bningar and his family of five children in their bereavement.
