(From Our Own Correspondent.) KOPANE, Feb. 15. In a tennis match between the Rongotea B team and die Kopano B team at Kopane the home side was successful by 11 sets to 5 and 81 games to 68. Results are, Rongotea players mentioned first: \\ omen’s singles, Miss M. Slattery beat Miss N. BcaUio 6—2, Miss J. Caverhill lost to Miss M. Morgan 5 —6, Miss L. Churchill boat Miss J. Prentice 6—2, Miss E. Will beat Miss J. Lancaster 6—5: men’s singles, K. Amies lost to F. Wood 5 —6, G. Arnutt loot to J. Thomson 2—6. Fox lost to N. Beattie 2 —6. T. Wood lost io A. W’itlon 5 —6; women’s doubles. Misses M. Slattery and Caverhill lost to Misses Beattie and Morgan 5 —6, Misses Churchill and Will lost to Misses Prentice and Lancaster 4 —6; men’s doubles. Amies and Arnett lost to Wood and Thomson 5 —6, Fox and Wood lost to Beattie and Witlon 3 —6; mixed doubles. Miss Slattery and Amies heat Miss Beattie and Wood 6—4, Miss Caverhill and Arnott beat Miss Morgan and Thomson 6—4. Miss Cnurchill and Fox lost to Miss Pionticc and Beattie 4 —6, Mi's Will and Wood lost to Mias Ixmcaster and Witton 2 —6. Playing at ltongotea, the Kopane A team won by 8 sels-aii and 77 games to 68. To complete a remarkable show record this year Mr Darden Prentice has ended a successful show tour by winning 22 firsts, 14 seconds, 9 thirds and gaining three championships, two reserve championhips, and four silver cups. Mr Prentice hag bred this year an outstanding heifer calf shown by Miss Phyllis Prentice in tho open and in the calf club classes, this calf bringing success to its young owner on every occasion. It, has to its record the Manawatu Calf Club’s championship for dairy type and reserve championship for care in rearing. At tho building and the Marton Shows it had to its credit one lirst, two seconds, and three thirds, and at the Levin Show three firsts and two seconds. It also won Mr J. G. Horn’s special trophy for the most points in the Show. At the Woodville Show, a week later, she gained four firsts, both the Woodville championships, and the Baker’s Silver Cup for the licst dairy calf. To further her successes she gained three firsts at the Puhiatua Show, also winning the Hodder and ’Jolley Trophy for tla> best dairy calf. Anotlior calf which brought success to its owner had three wins and three seconds, and wan several times beaten by her stud-mate. Mr Prentice has also been successful in gaining a highly commended classification certificate with his promising young cow Erinview Cinder, (his being tho mother of tho yearling hull which gained high honours at the Foilding Show by taking first prize and reserve championship.
