GUILD OF ST. OSWALD.

The meeting of tlie Guild of St. Oswald, held on Tuesday night, was opened with an interesting talk by Tier. J. Holland. He lectured on the early Church in England, from the time of Julius Caesar's landing in Britain in B.C. do. He related how some of the first Christmas wore Romans and they built their first church at Glastonbury, The speaker explained that the information wo have of the dim past was mostly collected from legends, but he said we do know that Christianity was founded in England 100 years after the Crucifixion. The speaker continued with a brief summary of various missionaries, concluding with St. Augustine who was the first missionary sent from Romo to England. The social activities of the evening were in charge of Miss L. Bowden’s group. The results of competitions were as follow:—Deck game. N. "White and A. Bowden; musical item. C. Barkwith; second deck game, G. Northovcr and'C. Barkwith. Tf your kitchen is damp, fill a jar with lime and put it in the damp corner. This will absorb the damp and keep the air fresh and sweet.
