SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT.
Eive new certificates were issued by the "Wanganui Education • Board during 1938 to schools for excellence of environment- —Owhango, Rata-iti, Turangarere, Waitohi, and Westniere. Fourteen schools were written letters of commendation: —Alton, Durie Hill, Great-ford, Horopito (committee), Kaitieke, Kakatalii, Kakaramea, Longburn, Mangatepopo, Omatane. Otamakapua, Raurimu, Rongo-iti and Taumatatahi. The awards also included endorsement of certificates' issued to certain schools in 1936 and 1937, among them l>eing the following of interest: Ashhurst. Awahou North, Beaconsfield, Bulls, Bunnvthorpe. Cheltenham, College Street, Dunolly, Fitzherbert East. Foxton. Glen Oroua, Hokowhitu, Kairanga. Kakariki. Kiwitea., Kopane, Linton. Lvtton Street, Alangaweka. Marton D.H.S., Afarton Junction, Alilson, Alt. View. Oliakea, Oroua Downs. Palmerston North Central. Parewanui, Pohangina. Rangiwahia, ltaumai. liewa, Rongotea, Ruahine, Russell Street. Sanson. Taikorea, Taonui, Terrace End. Tiakitahuna. Tnkorangi, Uniutoi, Waituna Vest. Vest End, West Rangitikoi, AVhakarongo, and Alanchester Street.
