WAR IN CHINA.
HUGE COST TO JAPAN. Received February 16, 2 p.m. TOKIO, Feb. 15. Supplementing the Japanese Budget a Government spokesman stated that an additional £600,000,000 would probably be required by a special military Budget, and a general supplementary Budget was being submitted to the Diet shortly. Field despatches report that 50,00 U Chinese troops and guerrillas m Central Hopei are trapped between the Peking Hankow, Tientsin and Pukow railways. The Japanese are scouring the area. The Chinese Government announces honours for two generals leading the guerrillas in Hopei Province.
It was previously reported that the Armv and Navy account for onethird of The Budget. The expenditure of £215,000,000 has been approved by the Diet; also a special war Budget of £77,000,000.
