Rev. Father J. A. Higgins, S.M., organiser of Catholic Action in the Archdiocese of Wellington, left Auckland yesterday to attend a Catholic Action Conference in Melbourne. Cr L. McKenzie, a member of the Wellington City Council who is attending the Library Association’s Conference at Palmerston North, is a nephew of the late Mr G. M. Snelson, a former Mayor of this city.

Lord Runciman (Lord President of the Council), who was reported yesterday as having left London for Australia with Lady Runciman, is also coming to New Zealand, according to a cablegram. Veil. Archdeacon H. A. Skelton, who was one time curate at St. Alary’s Cathedral. Auckland, bias been appointed Suffragan Bishop of Bedford in the diocese of St. Albans, England. He graduated as a Master of Arts from Oxford University, and was ordained as a priest in 1912. For about six years be was chaplain to the late Earl Rosebery.
