MANAWATU RACING CLUB.

AUTUMN MEETING. ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. Offering £5125 in stakes, the Manawatu Racing Club has drawn up a very attractive programme for its autumn meeting, to be hold on .March 24 and 25, the week following the Wellington meeting. The chief event is the Awapuni Gold Cup, of £450, weighl-for-age, to be decided on the first day. It invariably draws the best performers of their ago in New Zealand. The 31st Manawatu Sires’ Produce Slakes race, to be decided on the second day, carries a stake of £4OO, including £4O for five nominator of the sire of the winning horse. This will attract the best two-year-olds in New Zealand, Defaulter having been tho winner last year. Ihe North Island Hack Plate, to bo run on the same day, is w r orth £250. There is a hurdle race, with a stake of £2OO, each day. Handicap horses are well catered for with the King George Handicap, of £350 (li miles) on the first day, when the Clovcrlea Handicap, of £2oo' lor two-year-olds. will also he run. The Autumn Plato (maiden conditions) carries a stake of £l5O, Iho Woodhey Hack Handicap (six furlongs), £2OO, the open sprint £250, and the Te Matai Hack Handicap (nine furlongs) £2OO. A stake of £175 has, been allotted the Stonyhurst Juvenile Handicap (for two-year-olds) on the second day. and of £2OO to the Lockwood Hack Handicap (six furlongs). The principal handicap race of the meeting is the Tamatete Handicap, of £450 (li miles) on that day. The open sprint has a stake of £250 and the Adderstone Hack Handicap (seven furlongs) is worth £2OO. WINTER ATTRACTION.

The club's winter meeting this ''ear will be a two-day fixture, to be held on May 19 and 20. This precedes tho Wanganui and Auckland winter meetings by a fortnight, and should he a welcome fixture, particularly for southern horses competing at either of these meetings.
