GERMANS IN AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA, Jan. 9.
The influx of refugees from Germany is 'still increasing steadily. In November the net gain in population by the arrival of migrants classified as Germans exceeded for the first time on record the gain by migration from any other nations.
In November the refugee movement increased the German population of Australia by 291 persons. P’or the 12 months ended November 30 there was a net increase in Australia’s German population of 1435 persons. Now that tho Commonwealth Government has agreed to admit 15.000 refugees in tho next three years it is expected that the rate of increase will continue to rise steadily. Migration movements in November resulted in a net total population increase of 880 persons. Only 21 persons in this number were of British stock.
For the 12 months ended November 30 there was a net population increase by migration of 7861 persons, hut the whole of this was due to foreign migration. Actually there was a loss of British stock in that period of 517 persons.
