VICTORIAN MILL-WORKERS

MELBOURNE, Jan. 23,

Many experienced bush mill-hands who have lost their jobs as a result of the busli fires arc accepting employment in New Zealand. Tho secretary of the Victorian Timber-Workers’ Union (Mr Scanlon), said to-day that the first batch of five was leaving Melbourne on Mednosday. “The men are going in response to a message from the New Zealand union asking how it could help. The Victorian union had asked the New Zealand union if it could find work for the men,” said Mr Scanlon. Tho total number going to New Zealand is as yet undecided.
