“A fitting punishment for this class of offender would be to imprison and starve him,” said the Magistrate (Mr H. W. Bundle) when sentencing Alfred Edward Pauley to seven days’ imprisonment for failing to provide two dogs with food, shelter, and water. The animals were found chained on reclaimed land, and were scarcely able to stand.
