PIONEER’S 94TH BIRTHDAY
TO-DAY’S CELEBRATION
Mrs Francis J. Cox, of Gladstone Street, Woodville, celebrated to-day her 94th birthday, and relatives am friends conveyed greetings and goo< wishes. Mrs Cox is a worthy pioneer of the district, and still enjoys good health. A sketch of her career appeare in the Christmas edition of tn “Standard.” . ~ , ... Amongst the early callers to ofte their hearty congratulations were the Mayor (Mr It. R. Johnston) and Mrs Johnston. A message was also received from Sir Alfred Ransom (member for the district) and Lady Ransom, extending their felicitations an wishing Mrs Cox “rnany happj re " turns.” Representatives of various religious bodies were _ amongst those who paid H-ir compliments. The surv ving members of the family are Mesdames AV. Blv (Mornnsville). G. Hutchinson (Maslerton), A. Grazier (Woodville). Messrs A. Cox (Opotiki), P. Cox (Mangamahu, tordell), H. Cox (New Plymouth) and It. Cox (Hokitika). There are 28 grandchildren and 3(5 great-grandchil-dren. From Mrs Ralph Cox. of Hokitika, the venerable lady was the recipient of a very handsome birthday cake, apprnpriatelv designed and inscribed. Mrs Cox was very bright and cheerful in receiving her many callers.
