England won the third Test against South Africa by an innings and 13 runs. England, in their first innings, scored 469 for 4 wickets declared. South Africa had scored 103 and 73 for one wicket at stumps yesterday. To-day they were all out in their second innings for 353.

Mitchell played a chanceless innings, which lasted for 190 minutes. He hit 14 fours.

Rowan was on the defensive for 208 minutes and did not hit a boundary.

The howlers were in command after tea when, despite the poor light, the batsmen continued, apparently under instructions not to appeal. Details:—
