AUSTRALIA’S POLICY
WASHINGTON, Jan. 22
Australia’s unofficial representative Miss Ruby Rich pleaded China’s cause at a conferetnce hero to-day on “The Cause and Cure of War” in a speech even more impassioned than that of China’s own delegate. Both won support for a boycott of Japan amid groat enthusiasm. Miss Rich said: “Wc in Australia are definitely opposed to Mr Chamberlain’s policy. Tho people are formulating their own policies. 'Wo are l>oycotting aggressor nations’ goods and the workers arc also striking against the shipping of arms to Japan.” Miss Rich added that Australian peace proponents wore supporting four angles of a single programme — the preservation of the .sanctity ol treaties, disarmament, collective security and the settling of international grievances by arbitration.
