ERECTION OF FORTIFICATIONS

BARCELONA, Jan. 22
Severe fighting continues on the outskirts of igualada and Villa France. The former town is reported to have changed hands several times yesterday. The insurgent advance from Calaf to Manresa is stated to he held up at Salaverina.
A Burgas report says that the capture of Igualada and Villafranca is definitely claimed. The rebel vanguard arc reported to be nine miles from Manresa. The rebels also claim to have occupied Altes.
A decree closes all non-inilitarv business houses in the coming week for the release of workers for the construction of city fortifications. Failure will bo regarded as high treason. Two British ships, the Dover Abbey and Scabank, were hit during eight air raids on Barcelona between 10.30 p.m. and midnight. The day’s casualties total fifty killed and over a hundred wounded.
