PERSONAL.
Earl Beaty, son of the late Admiral of the Fleet, and Countess Beatty, arrived at Auckland to-day from Suva. They will remain in Auckland till about January 28 and will then leave on a visit to other parts of the Dominion.
Mr J. Harry Lang, of San Francisco, who recently did the preliminary organisation work for the £3OO,(XX) centenary fund of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, in the course of which he visited Palmerston North, has again arrived in New Zealand, with Mrs Lang. They will spend three weeks in the Dominion before Mr Lang goes on to Australia to organise finance for the Young Men’s Christian Associations in Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Major and Mrs L. B. Tong have arrived at Hastings to take charge of Salvation Army activities in the district. The major, who was last stationed at Petone, has been an officer in the Dominion for the past 2.3 years, and has been in charge of many city corps. Major and Mrs Tong bail from Palmerston North. Their parents were Salvationists of many years’ standing, Mr Tong, sent,, who is over 80 years of age, being one of the pioneers of the Salvation Army in New Zealand. 9
