PRESIDENT’S REQUEST.

The President said that both measures enabled the United States to safeguard its interests and maintain international monetary and economic co-operation. “It is obvious, however, that the international monetary and economic situation is still such that it would not be safe to permit such powers to be terminated,” stated the President.
