PERSONAL.
In the Victoria University examination for the LL.B. degree, Mr J. M. Cope, of Palmerston North, secured passes in jurisprudence and Latin, and Mr S. H. Philip in jurisprudence and constitutional history. Dr. Robert Linton, a son of Sir Richard Linton, former Agent-Gen-eral for Victoria and an early resident of Palmerston North, has been made a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. Dr. Linton will shortly visit Australia with his wife. The Public Trustee announces that Mr C. E. Cole, who has been on the legal staff of the Public Trust Office for almost 26 years, and who held the position of solicitor to the office since 1932, has retired on superannuation through ill-health. Mr J. H. Carrad. assistant solicitor, has been appointed solicitor to the Public Trust Office in succession to Mr Cole. Mr Carrad, who is a brother of Mr C. S. Carrad, postmaster at Pahiatua, joined the staff of the Magistrate's Court at Hastings as a cadet in April. 1898, and remained on the legal staff of the Public Trust Office until October, 1919. He is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.
