JUNIOR TITLES.
PROGRESS AT WANGANUI. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Jan. 21. The junior tennis titles were decided to-day, when a large crowd of spectators were present. The semi-final of the girls’ singles between Hetty Potter and Jean Wallace. both of Auckland, resolved itself baseline duelling, with few net advances by each player. The former stroked indifferently from the first set and the latter took advantage of her lapses. Tn the second set Potter attacked more resolutely, answering them without difficulty. Tn the final set a slight advantage rested with Potter, who displayed more varied tactics. Results:— GIRLS’ SINGLES. Semi-final. —lL Potter beat J. Wallace, 3—6, 6—2. 6—3. BOYS’ SINGLES. Final.—A. Burns (Auckland) l>eat R. McKenzie (AVellington), 6—o. 6—o. MIXED DOUBLES. Quarter-final. —A. Burns and AT. Hodges beat J. Walker and E. Gilmoiir, G—4, s—o, 7—o. Semi-final.—R. Haddock and Betty Potter heat Barton and Elsom, 6—4, G 4; A. Burns and Alarion Hodges beat J. Smith and Winnie Smith, 6—3. 6—4. BOYS’ PLATE. ■' Final. —D. Dunn (Wellington) heat J.
