COALMINING DANGERS.
ROYAL COMMISSION’S REPORT.
(British Official Wireless.) . RUGBY, Dec. 21
The report of the Royal Commission on Safety in Coal Mines, which sat for three years, emphasises that mining is the most dangerous of .all major industries, with an average- annual loss of life of about 850, but the commission believes that with the necessary effort these terrible figures can be reduced.
The commission stresses the need for a change of attitude in the mining industry itself—among owners, officials and workers alike—leading to a higher standard of professional conduct regarding safety.
